Brighton & Hove Streamline Taxis is the product of the merger of the former Brighton Streamline (74 74 74) and Hove Streamline (20 20 20) Taxi Associations. These companies were both formed in 1936 when taxi drivers in the separate towns got together to bring organisation to the operations for protection of their livelihoods by providing a better and consistent service to the public .

So our merger brings nearly 150 years experience of providing high class taxi services to the public and businesses in the City, with the ongoing aim of customer satisfaction. The many changes within the taxi business over the years has brought us to the ‘high tech’, computerised operation of today.

Our fleet operates on GPS (global positioning system) which keeps track of the cars’ locations throughout the City so that the automated dispatch system allocates the most suitable and nearest vehicle to the pick-up point to take the fare.

We operate some 370 vehicles, all licensed by Brighton & Hove City Council, with nearly 800 drivers similarly licensed by the Council and undergoing regular CRB and medical checks. The fleet is predominantly Hackney Carriages - white with aqua bonnets and boots - that can pick up from taxi ranks, be hailed in the street and can take telephoned bookings. We also have Private Hire vehicles which may be any colour except white - these are allowed only to take pre-booked work. There is a diversity of saloon and estate cars, with multi seat (5 to 8 passengers) vehicles and including many suitable for wheelchair access.

In 2009, Brighton & Hove Radio Cabs Ltd celebrated 45 years of serving Brighton & Hove and Adur with an honest and reliable 24 hour taxi service.
 
It all began 45 years ago in 1964 when Alan and Rose Northeast set up Radio Cabs above their car workshop in Bath Street, Brighton. Around 1978 the company was bought by John and Babs Sharman who increased their fleet of drivers and customer base. On 13th August 1990 the company was taken over by the current Directors – Chris and Eileen Nutley and Tony and Janet Turner.

They moved the business to its current location at the Seven Dials and have made significant investments in both our technology and services.
 
In 2005, Brighton & Hove Radio Cabs acquired the Portslade based taxi company Carcabs 41 41 41 and in 2006 they incorporated the Lancing based taxi company ABCA Taxis. We now have a combined fleet of 300 fully licensed vehicles consisting of both Hackney Carriage and Private Hire, covering a vast area from Peacehaven through to Worthing.
 
Brighton & Hove Radio Cabs were the first taxi company in the South-East to invest in the latest windows-based bespoke taxi booking and despatch system. All our vehicles are tracked by GPS satellite and we are able to offer a call back or text back service to let you know when your taxi is about to arrive.

We accept payment by all major credit or debit cards and have account facilities, subject to status. Account customers can now benefit from Autobook which allows you to make telephone bookings from pre-selected pick up addresses and access to an Internet Booking system which allows them to manage their own taxi bookings online.

For several years we have had an IVR (Interactive Voice Response) system in place that automatically answers calls from landlines. Towards the end of 2008, Brighton & Hove Radio Cabs became the first taxi company in the area to invest in ‘IVR Advanced’ which consists of two new features. These features allow customers to make future bookings on the same day or next day and give customers an update on their booking providing useful vehicle information.
 
For many years, Brighton & Hove Radio Cabs have offered a courteous and reliable airport and seaport transfer service. Prices start from £40.00 and a wide range of vehicle types are on offer including multi-seaters for up to 8 passengers.

We have wheelchair accessible vehicles available for pre-booking and also have a large number of forward facing five-seater vehicles which are often more comfortable for those long distance journeys.
